Emily-Rose vs Emily-Roxette

The duality of one’s personality is rather interesting don’t you think? It seems that often our bodies house a multitude of polar opposites. Like in the old-school Disney movies where an angel would sit on one shoulder, and a little Lucifer on the other. I guess it’s called a conscience. I got over Disney about a decade ago when I discovered what a nonce old Walt was, so I prefer to ignore the whole shoulder metaphor. Instead- I find it easier to simplify my conscience into 2 completely separate entities. They even have names…

 

Emily-Rose, as the name indicates is sweet as Summer. She’s honest, sensible, reliable, hard-working, and all that other flowery crap. She’s into reading books, writing, and smiling stupidly 80% of the time. She’s great girlfriend material despite her deep ingrained obsession with Bette Midler. And is completely un-selfish…in fact you’d never guess she was deprived of brothers and sisters growing up.

 

And then offsetting all things nice (because sugar aint appreciated without spice) is…

 

Emily- Roxette, commonly known as the ‘evil twin’. Em-Roxette could be the poster child for only-children all over the world. She looks after herself and doesn’t give a flying fuck about what people think. She’s into dirty rock music, artistic expression through interpretive dance, and all things closer to the dark side. Are you reading those eyes right you may ask yourself one night? Chances are…yes you are. Emily- Roxette always get’s what she wants.

 

The point of this self-indulgent rant you may all be wondering by now? You see the dominance in which persona reigns control is largely determined by current relationship status. Some may remember a while back (say 2 years) when Em-Roxette was having the time of her life all over Melbourne’s colourful streets? Well that time has returned (minus Melbourne and the colour anecdote) In conclusion I’d like to say I welcome Summer and Singledom with wide open arms.
