Hypothetical Tube Conga
Dear All,
This morning whilst quietly enjoying my train ride into work- I discovered an old legendary playlist on the ipod. This playlist had quite a profound impact upon my mood. Not normally a morning person…by the time I’d arrived at Goodge St I was in such an ecstatic mood I almost considered taking the stairs JUST FOR FUN! It has to be said- music makes the world go round.
The standout track was Gloria Estefan’s conga. As I sat there listening, I drifted off into an alternate reality. In my delusion- this is the ideal song to have an impromptu musical moment on a tube to. Seriously…Picture it. Everyone’s sitting there looking very serious and avoiding eye contact. Then slowly but surely…the conga can be heard through the train speakers getting louder and louder. I quote Gloria in all her glory (see what I did there?)
“Come on shake your body baby do the conga…You know you can’t control yourself any longer…Feel the rythym of the music getting stronger…Don’t you fight it till you try to do the conga”
What I’m trying to say- is that life would be better if it had a constant soundtrack to go with it. People would do the conga on the train in the way to work. You wouldn’t have to listen to that gross saliva sound when kissing someone. And there would never be awkward silences…only profoundly moving moments with the aid of a little power ballad.
Tomorrow on the Northern Line…I’ll do the conga.

You know my morning commute also involkes some Estefanian lyrics, usually the opening to “Rhythm is Gonna Get You”:
O eh, o eh, o eh, oo aah
O eh, o eh, o eh, oo aah
Yah yeh goh
As I try to squeeze on to the train!
